You've worked hard for your recovery. You've made important changes, and your life may be considerably better than it was when addiction was running the show.

Yet you may still struggle with shame, fear, anxiety, self-doubt, difficult relationships, or patterns that seem impossible to change.

What if there is more to recovery than you've experienced so far?

Welcome to the Compassionate Recovery Podcast, where people in recovery bring their real-life challenges to a coaching conversation with Bill Tierney.

Through these conversations, you'll hear people in recovery discover new ways of understanding themselves, their struggles, and the possibilities available to them.

The first episode will be released by December 1, 2026.

Episodes Coming Soon

Our first episode is planned for December 1, 2026.

Each episode will be named for the question the guest brings to the conversation. You'll be able to listen to the coaching session or watch the video when available.

Every conversation offers an opportunity to recognize something about yourself and consider new possibilities for your own recovery.

This Podcast Can't Happen Without You

Every episode depends on someone willing to share a challenge they're experiencing in recovery.

If you've maintained abstinence from your primary addiction for at least one year and have something you'd like to explore or resolve, I invite you to apply to be a guest.

You'll receive a complimentary coaching session, and your participation may help other people recognize and understand challenges in their own recovery.

You can choose whether to appear on video and whether to use your real name or a different name. Your recorded conversation will become an episode of the podcast.

There's no cost to participate.

What Happens on the Podcast?

Every episode begins with a person in recovery who has something they want to change, understand, or resolve.

Perhaps they're struggling with a relationship. Perhaps they feel stuck in old patterns, overwhelmed by emotions, or disappointed that sobriety or abstinence from the addictive substance, behavior, or pattern haven't brought the freedom they expected.

Together, we explore what's happening beneath the surface.

Using a compassionate, IFS-informed coaching approach, we look at the thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and protective strategies that may be contributing to the problem.

As a listener, you'll have the opportunity to recognize similar dynamics within yourself, learn a new way to approach your own challenges, and discover that deeper recovery is possible.

The conversations are genuine. The challenges are real. And what unfolds may surprise all of us.

Meet Your Host, Bill Tierney

I've been sober from alcohol since November 15, 1982.

Sobriety gave me a new beginning, and I am deeply grateful for the people and programs that helped me get there. But for many years, I continued struggling with problems that abstinence alone hadn't resolved.

I wanted more from recovery. I wanted freedom from the shame, fear, emotional suffering, and patterns that continued limiting my life.

That search eventually led me to Internal Family Systems (IFS), a profoundly different way of understanding myself and the internal dynamics that had shaped my experience for much of my life.

Through my personal recovery and my work as a coach and Certified IFS Practitioner, I developed the Three Deep Recovery model and the Compassionate Recovery Project.

I created this podcast to bring the experience of compassionate, parts-informed coaching to people who recognize that there may be more to recovery than they've experienced so far.

My hope is that as you listen to these conversations, you'll begin recognizing opportunities for deeper recovery in your own life.

Let's Explore Deeper Recovery Together

If you host a podcast about addiction recovery, lead a recovery group, or are a professional who supports people in recovery, I'd welcome the opportunity to join your conversation.

I've been sober since November 15, 1982, and my understanding of recovery has continued to evolve throughout those years. My personal journey, combined with my experience as a coach and Certified IFS Practitioner, has given me a perspective on recovery that reaches beyond abstinence to address the challenges that can persist long after addiction ends.

I enjoy conversations that challenge conventional thinking, introduce new possibilities, and help people better understand themselves. Depending on your audience, we might explore the three layers of recovery, the role of shame and protective parts, or how a compassionate, IFS-informed approach can help people address persistent struggles in recovery.

I'm available for podcast interviews, group presentations, and interactive workshops. Most engagements are virtual, although I'm open to discussing in-person opportunities.

If you're interested in having me as a guest or speaker, I'd appreciate hearing about your audience and what you'd like to explore together.
